Romancing the Frock

Romancing the Frock was held at the Logan Art Gallery in June 2007. The series of nine sculptures titled 'The New Look' , which forms the installation part of this exhibition, is a parody of the romantic fashion designs of the post war era.

Sewing used in the process of the work explores the tension between acceptable female activity and new reasons for this ancient and historical form of artistic expression. As Corinne states "it's important to show alternative forms of art, such as installations involving materiality along with women's art that serves to investigate the female aesthetic".

The series of frock montages titled 'Celebrity Chicks' celebrates non-violent joyousness and hilarity. The concept of humorous 'fun-frilled' materials refers to an art form that assists in the promotion of a positive female stereotype.
